Food Culture in Mumbai.
Mumbai, from the very start has been a city of migrants, a city who has always attracted people. People with unique ideas and skills unpack their dreams in Mumbai. From the largest industries to local food, Mumbai has always been on the top in the country. People from different parts and cultures of the country have settled in the dream city from decades.
Mumbai being the capital of the state Maharashtra is influenced by the Maharashtrian cuisine. Regional foods from different parts of Maharashtra are famous in the city of Mumbai. Vada Pav is famed as the most popular and inexpensive street foods in Mumbai. Vada pav is the all-time favorite snack of Mumbaikars. A lane filled with a bunch of street side stalls is known as ‘Khau-Galli’. These ‘Khau Gallis’ sell a variety of foods like Vada Pav, Pav Bhaji, Pani Puri, Bhel Puri, Dabelis, Misal Pav, Sandwiches, Kulfis and What Not! The tea stalls are almost on every corner of the roads.
Mumbai has some of the oldest and the most renowned hotels in India. The city is also known for its high-end restaurants. Restaurants in various parts of the country as well as in the foreign countries have included Mumbai’s street food in their menu cards.
